Angelina Jolie Criticizes Scheduled Quran Burning

Never one to shy away from supporting human rights, Angelina Jolie has taken a side in what is perhaps one of the most controversial stories in America (and the world over) right now: Rev. Terry Jones -- the head of a small church in Florida -- is planning a Quran-burning ceremony on the ninth anniversary of Sept. 11.
Jolie, 35, a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, has joined the ranks of many (including Hillary Clinton) who are criticizing this decision. When asked during a press conference if she supported Jones or his plan, Jolie told reporters, "Of course not. Of course not."
"I have hardly the words that somebody would do that to somebody's religious book," the mother of six added. Jolie also praised the U.S. government's opposition to the plan.
We applaud Jolie for not only being a human-rights activist -- she's currently visiting Pakistan to meet with devastated flood victims and to help raise awareness to provide aid -- but for always being outspoken about world issues that need a spotlight.
